Taking of Pelham 123 - Coming Boxing Day
Cinema superstars Denzel Washington and John Travolta star in this edge of your seat thriller from director/producer Tony Scott. A reimagining of a seventies classic with plenty more action and suspense; this is the perfect Boxing Day blockbuster. Washington stars as Walter Garber, a New York Transport dispatcher who finds himself at the centre of a hostage situation when a New York City subway train is hijacked and the passengers are held hostage in return for a ransom. Garber engages in a battle of wits with a master criminal (played with passion by John Travolta). Washington is as brilliant as ever, while Travolta puts in his best performance since Face/Off.

Antichrist - Coming Boxing Day
Perhaps not the most appropriate film to be released on Boxing Day, Antichrist is the extreme, controversial and often horrific horror starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg and directed by Lars Von Trier (Dogville). A couple go into a secluded forest to mourn the death of their child, living in seclusion. While there, they meet Satan and experience horrifying evil that they could not have imagined. Quite sick and often twisted, this film is not for the fainthearted, tabloid paper The Daily Mail said that "its maker almost certainly needs psychiatric help".

Star Trek
JJ Abrams, the man behind LOST, Cloverfield and Mission Impossible 3 has done the Hollywood impossible - by not only making a decent prequel to an established franchise, but also making the first Star Trek movie that can be enjoyed by all. Moon
Sticking with the Sci Fi theme, but a completely different film to Star Trek comes Moon, a brilliant film starring Sam Rockwell and directed by first time director Duncan Jones. An instant classic, destined to referred to alongside other Sci Fi greats like 2001, Moon won awards at the Edinburgh, Seattle, Sitges, Dinard and Athens film festivals and boasts rave reviews from all the top movie critics. Set in the near future, Astronaut Sam Bell is nearing the end of his three-year stint on the moon, part of a mining operation that provides 75% of the power on the Earth. He's meant to be alone, but then he meets himself. If we say any more, we'll ruin the film, but it's deep, entertaining and moving. Well worth a watch.

Rome - Series 1 and 2 on Blu-ray
Released this week on Blu-ray, we have Rome, the brilliant, visually stunning HBO series that is even more gripping on high definition Blu-ray. An Emmy award winning series starring Kevin McKidd, Ray Stevenson, James Purefoy and Ciaran Hinds; the series presents a down-to-earth view of Rome. Gladiator swords and sandals crossed with The West Wing, crossed with Brothers and Sisters. This is one of the best shows of the decade, set in the last days of the Roman Republic.

Calling all zombies - your days are numbered! Set in the American South, the game starts in Savannah, Georgia and ends in New Orleans, Louisiana. It's the end of the world as we know it... and we feel fine! Assassin's Creed II: Preview
