Adapted from Terry Pratchett’s Novel, Wyrd Sisters, based in Discworld (a world carried by four elephants standing on a huge turtle in space), is another classic piece of fantasy. This story is based in a small country in Discworld called Lancre, which is the home of three well-meaning witches; the flowery Magrat Garlick, the youthfully spirited Nanny Ogg and their leader Granny Weatherwax who find themselves dragged into the dirty world of politics.

The main problem is that the King of Lancre has been murdered, by Duke Felmet, although he is under the instruction of his controlling wife, the Duchess. However this raises more problems for the witches. Firstly the powerful Duke despises the kingdom of Lancre, and the people of Lancre despise him and are pressuring the witches to find them a new, more suitable, ruler of Lancre. Secondly the Kings imprisoned son escapes and finds himself in the hands of the witches, although they wish he hadn’t as this evokes the rage of the Duke towards them. They know the son and heir of Lancre must be protected, they just wish they didn’t have to do it.
