At a Glance

Along with the third Ice Age movie comes an associated video game. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Aimed at younger gamers, it provides a challenging and entertaining selection of platform-action gameplay styles. For the first time in an Ice Age game, players can choose to take control of any one of six favourite characters from the movie including Scrat, Manny the Mammoth, Sid the Sloth and Diego the Sabre Toothed Tiger. Other characters from the Hollywood film pop in to give players useful hints and tips. The characters are voiced by the same actors who play them in the movie. Each playable character has different capabilities and strengths, and can use their particular abilities to complete each level. The characters also have different gameplay styles, from platform hunt-and-collect games, to chase-and-dodge-style games. During each level there are juicy, fruity pick-ups to collect. These are either laying around the level, or can be created by rolling over creatures or hitting plants and items of landscape. The game also involves some combat. Another first for Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is the multi-player feature that enables users to challenge friends and family to compete in a selection of mini-games.
