Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau star in Neil Simon's adaptation of his own play. When neurotic, houseproud Felix Unger's (Lemmon) wife kicks him out, he is taken in by his slobbish poker pal, divorced sports writer Oscar Madison (Matthau). Felix sets out to bring order to Oscar's life, but his best efforts only succeed in aggravating his new flatmate. When Friday night poker sessions become a forum for Felix's sandwich-making skills, Oscar makes a determined effort to loosen his friend up.
