This tragic story of unrequited love is based on the real diary of Adele Hugo, the daughter of French author Victor Hugo.
In 1893 a determined young Adele comes to Halifax in search of the man she has fallen madly in love with. Tragically, however, the object of her desire, a rakish young English lieutenant, wants nothing to do with her. But Adele's obsession with the lieutenant soon spirals out of control as he rebuffs her again and again.
