Comedy set during the infamous American football players' strike of the 1980s. Keanu Reeves is Shane Falco, a has-been quarterback asked to join up with veteran coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) to fill in for the striking pro players. With Rhys Ifans as the hard drinking, chain smoking kicker, together the trio form a team known as the Replacements, something any professional would be highly embarrassed about.
