1. King Henry's trusted advisor, Cardinal Wolsey, persuades the King to keep peace with France, Henry discovers that Queen Katherine's Lady-in-Waiting is pregnant with his child.

2. As allegiances shift at home and abroad, Henry executes the Duke of Buckingham for treason, and celebrates the birth of his first, though illegitimate son, Henry Fitzroy.

3. Two powerful influences enter the King's world for the first time - one political and one romantic: the powerful King of Spain. Emperor Charles V, and the seductive Anne Boleyn.
