When we were introduced to Kane & Lynch back in 2007, the good-cop-bad-cop thing had already been done to death in movies and TV shows. The flipside – and thus, the key interest in these characters – was that Kane & Lynch weren't cops. In fact, they were anything but good guys. In Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, you see the duo trying to lie low and at least attempt an honest living out of their recent problems.
You play as Lynch, the middle aged, balding, loose cannon bad-ass who now resides in Shanghai. He's been hired to pull some 'job' but quickly realises it's beyond him so he calls his old 'friend' Kane to help out. Since Kane is currently wanted and running from the law anyway, he figures he's got nothing to lose and away we go. So much for an honest living, then.
The same brutal, third-person shooting action is present in this sequel, but the main difference that Dog Days offers is presentation. IO Interactive has taken a cue from social networking and, specifically, the concept of citizen journalism, and designed the camera angles and graphical style based on that.
The result is a game that looks like it's being filmed from a third party with a cameraphone, shocked to be seeing two rather aggressive Western men pump bullets into cops and other innocents. Add to this a new online coop mode and a revamped Fragile Alliance competitive mode, and you'll find that Kane & Lynch 2 is more outrageous than its Dead Men in every aspect.
