She's the golden girl. He's the longshot. It's a match made in...
From the makers of Bridget Jones’ Diary, Notting Hill and Love Actually, and directed by Richard Loncraine, Wimbledon features a sterling cast including British sensation Paul Bettany (A Knight’s Tale), Kirsten Dunst (Spider Man 2), Sam Neill (Perfect Strangers), Austin Nichols (The Day After Tomorrow), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Black Hawk Down) and Jon Favreau (Elf).
Seeded near the bottom of the world tennis ranks, struggling British tennis player Peter Colt (Bettany) has resigned himself to retiring as a tennis coach before he is unexpectedly granted a wildcard allowing him to play in the Wimbledon championship. Declaring this his final tournament, Peter fully expects to be knocked out in the first round.
Enter American hotshot Lizzie Bradbury, bad girl and rising star of the women’s international tennis circuit. Focused, driven and pushed hard by her over-ambitious and over-protective father Dennis (Neill), Lizzie lets nothing get in the way of her game until she meets Peter and the sparks begin to fly.
Fuelled by a mixture of his newfound luck, love and on–court prowess, Peter works his way up the ranks of the tournament players and finds himself in a previously unimaginable position with a chance of winning the Wimbledon men‘s singles title and hopefully the heart of Lizzie, if his luck can just hold out!
