Pilot:
Ally’s childhood sweetheart, Billy, works at her new law firm, and Billy is not only married but his wife, Georgia, is gorgeous and a lawyer too! Then Ally loses her first case, an “easy win”. Can it get worse? Maybe she should follow senior partner Richard Fish’s advise, “Make enough money; everything else will follow.”
Compromising Positions:
Richard invites Ally to join him for dinner with a very wealthy potential client (guest star Tate Donovan as Ronald Cheanie). Unbeknownst to her, the evening is set up as a double date with Richard and his girlfriend (guest star Dyan Cannon as Judge Whipper Cone). Ally soon believes she’s being used as bait to land this client but actually ends up falling for this handsome, intelligent and humorous guy. Meanwhile, Richard’s partner; John Cage, is arraigned on solicitation charges. Billy handles the case, and in so doing, ends up revealing one of his own compromising secrets.
The Kiss:
Ally senses that Ronald is holding back when they go on their first “official” date. Georgia and Ally work together on an age discrimination case involving the firing of an attractive older female news journalist (guest star Kate Jackson).
The Affair:
Ally is asked to be pallbearer at the funeral of her ex-law professor, but in the process must confront his widow (guest star Kathy Baker) about how well she knew him. Meanwhile Georgia and Ronald feel threatened when Billy agrees to attend the funeral with Ally.
