The Perfect World Meets The Perfect Assassin

Based on the cult MTV animated series Aeon Flux this is far easier to follow than the original. Forget the usual dark and moody post-apocalypse movies that are the norm, this is a stunning eye fest of a movie, bold colours and fantastically graphic locations that reflect back to the movies animated roots.

In 2011 there is a terrible plague which all but wipes out the human race. The survivors live in the last city on earth Bregna, a walled utopian society that is ruled by Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas – Kingdom of Heaven) the scientist who developed the cure to the plague, his brother Orin ( Tommy Lee Miller Mindhunters) and a group of scientists. Meanwhile the world outside is being taken back by nature.

And so it remains for 400 years, but things are not as perfect in Bregna as it would first appear, people start to go missing for no reason and there have been a number of unexplained deaths. There are a group of rebels called the ‘Monicans’ who have a mission to find out what is happening to these people and bring down the Goodchild regime. Aeon Flux ( Charlize Theron Head in the Clouds/ – Monster) is a highly trained assassin who is one of the Monicans. When Aeons sister is killed for falsely being a Monican, Aeon makes it her mission to get her revenue on Chairman Goodchild.

A year after her sisters death she gets her opportunity when she is given her ultimate mission, to infiltrate the government compound and kill Trevor Goodchild. But when it comes to pulling the trigger there is a memory in the back of her mind stopping her. Aeon is then forced into making a decision as to where her loyalties lie with the Monicans or with Trevor Goodchild.

Aeon and Trevor enter into a battle with both the Monicans and Orin Goodchild in an effort to get to the truth about the disappearances and deaths and what exactly is in the ‘Relicle’ (the hot air balloon memorial that floats around the city).

With a similar kind of self awakening story line similar to Equilibrium (2003), it tells a cautionary tale of the consequences to the human race that future technology could have.
