Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock (PS3)

Odd as it may seem, Doctor Who games don't make it to console all that often. Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock actually marks the Time Lord's first appearance on the PS3. You can, of course, insert your own 'about wibbly-wobbly, time-wimey' joke here...

The game features both the Doctor and River Song, with both Matt Smith and Alex Kingston having lent their voices and likenesses to the title - including a spot of motion capture for Smith's scarecrow-like limbs. To give it that extra taste of authenticity, the game has been created in conjunction with the Doctor's overlords, BBC Wales.

At the start of the game you find yourself with a crashed TARDIS on your hands, and that's never good. Stepping through the door, you'll find yourself in a sidescroller that blends platforming, puzzle and combat elements. Yes, you heard, 'combat'. Despite the Doctor's pacifist leanings, the inclusion of River Song as a playable character allows for a bit of gunplay, while the Doctor's sections lean more on puzzle-based play. The action takes place over a portion of London - a geographical slice that you won't leave. It takes place over four dimensions, however, with Elizabethan, Victorian, modern and future periods all coming into play. A warehouse in one period might be a swanky new office block in the next, allowing the different sections to play off each other.
