Derek Zoolander has won the
title of Male Model of the Year three times running, but when he loses out to
hot new contender Hansel, he starts to wonder if there is more to life than
being a supermodel. Determined to find out 'who he really is', Derek returns to
his home town in New Jersey, only to be rejected by his coal mining father and
brothers who are embarrassed to have a model in the family. Distraught and
dejected, Derek returns to the city where unbeknownst to him, a sinister plot
is unfurling.
The President of Malaysia has closed down the sweatshops in his country, a
decision welcomed by all of the western world. Well, all of the western world
except the evil designer Mugatu who frequently utilised the cheap labour in the
production of his clothes. He decides that his only choice is to kill the
President of Malaysia

when he visits New York. But he can't
do it himself - Mugatu needs a pawn who might just be stupid enough to take on
the task.
Enter Derek Zoolander: 3% body fat 1% brain activity.
Mugatu appoints Derek as the face of his new Derelicte campaign in order to
brainwash him into killing the President. But with the help of Time Magazine
journalist Matilda, can Derek foil the plot before it's too late?

Ben Stiller's entire immediate family featured in Zoolander. In addition to his
wife, Christine Taylor, who plays Matilda the Time Magazine journalist, his
mother, Anne Meara, plays a protester at the VH1 Fashion Awards. His sister,
Amy Stiller, plays one of Hansel's fashion posse, and his father, Jerry
Stiller, plays his long-term agent Maury Ballstein. Even his Chocolate
Labrador, Kahlua, makes an appearance!
Stiller and Owen Wilson, who plays Hansel, spent two days being photographed by
Frank Ockenfels to create full model's portfolios. They posed for mock
campaigns for Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger and Evian as well as fake magazine covers
for GQ, Rolling Stone and the International Male catalogue.
There are over 20 celebrity cameos in the movie. They include: Victoria
Beckham, David Bowie, Emma Bunton, David Duchovny, Fabio, Cuba Gooding Jnr,
Tommy Hilfiger, Lenny Kravitz, Natalie Portman, Winona Ryder, Claudia Schiffer,
Christian Slater, Gwen Stefani, Donald Trump, Donatella Versace, Billy Zane.
