| From Bryan Singer (X-Men / Superman Returns) and Dean Devlin (Independence Day / Stargate), comes The Triangle - an action packed and truly riveting mini-series into the centuries old mystery of the Bemuda Triangle. The series broke records when broadcast in the US and is produced to the standard of a multi-million dollar movie.
Billionaire Eric Benirall (Sam Neill) is losing his cargo ships and their crews at a frightening pace – and he wants answers. His bemused, hand-picked team of subject-specific experts include sceptical tabloid journalist Howard Thomas (Eric Stoltz), ocean resource engineer Emily Patterson (Catherine Bell), scientist/adventurer Bruce Geller (Michael Rodgers) and psychic Stan Lathem (Bruce Davison).
Recruited with the promise of unlimited funding for their research and the chance for once-in-lifetime riches, the team sets out to solve this most daunting of puzzles.
Singer and Devlin bring to The Triangle a spirit of adventure coupled with an extensive experience producing projects on a massive scale. In fact, The Triangle is in some ways even more ambitious than Independence Day was. For instance, in the latter, there were just over 300 digital effects. In The Triangle, and with less time working on the project, there are over 800, all co-ordinated by SFX supervisor Volker Engel, who also won an Oscar for Independence Day.
Devlin has a lifelong fascination with the Bermuda Triangle: “Ever since I was a kid I’ve been intrigued by the Bermuda Triangle. I think it is one of the great ‘What Ifs’. It is something that I think everyone has heard of and is in our collective unconscious. Also, the Bermuda Triangle’s mysteries go all the way back to Columbus and nobody has come up with a satisfactory explanation.”
The Triangle’s combination of state of the art special effects and the carefully detailed designs imbue the mini-series with an eerie sense of realism. Coupled with a fascinating story, The Triangle demonstrates that in the Bermuda Triangle, nothing stays lost forever.
