Two strangers, Jonathan
Trager (John Cusack) and Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale), meet by chance in a
Manhattan department store and a mutual attraction is instantaneous. Despite
not even knowing each other's names, the short time they spend together is
unforgettable. However, Sara insists that fate must decide whether they should
be together. At the end of a magical night, they go their separate ways, not
knowing if they will see each other again. Years later, both engaged and living
in different cities, the pair both still harbour hopes that one day they will
make that happy discovery that will bring them back together.
When Sara and Jonathan simultaneously decide to take destiny into their own
hands and go in search of each other, the consequences are heart-warming and
funny. Jeremy Piven (Family Man, Black Hawk Down) and Molly Shannon (Shallow
Hal, Never Been Kissed) give touching comic performances as the couple's
respective, supportive best friends. As Jonathan's wedding day approaches,
there's a tense race against time to discover if what was felt during those few
fleeting hours was the real thing.
