Academy Award winner Tom Hanks stars
in this dark gangster-flick from the acclaimed director Sam Mendes (American
Beauty).
Michael Sullivan (Hanks) is a devoted husband and father by day and a
professional killer by night.
He works for John Rooney (Paul Newman), the Irish mob boss who raised him as a
son.
When Sullivan's twelve-year-old son witnesses his father at work, their two
worlds overlap dramatically, and both he and his son are forced to flee their
home - closely followed by another hitman, Maguire (Jude Law).
"Road To Perdition" is a title with a dual meaning. In literal terms, Perdition
is the name of the town to which Michael Sullivan and his son are headed. But
Perdition is also a euphemism for Hell, and in that regard, the road is one
that Michael Sullivan prays he can keep his son from travelling.
