Prison Break: Season 2 – Part 1
By Cory Peynado, Blockbuster.co.uk

“Breaking out was just the beginning, now it gets a little more interesting”

After leaving us hanging on by a thread at the dazzling conclusion of the last series, Prison Break finally returns to continue the story. After escaping Fox River prison, Michael Scofield and his crew have now become the eight most wanted men in America! And it seems that the United States government have taken this particular escape very personally.

There was always going to be non-stop speculation as to how the series could continue. I mean with a title like Prison Break just what was left to happen? My first thought was maybe they’d get to the break out scene at the end of season one and some hill-billy guard would step out in front of them and say “not on my watch” and then they would spend season two coming up with a whole new plan. But much to the surprise and delight of fans the chase has proved to be more exciting than we could have imagined.

The story continues eight hours after the actual prison escape from Fox River State Penitentiary, and now focuses on the different paths that the escapees have chosen to take. A few new faces have also entered the fray including federal agent Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner), who is assigned to track down and capture all eight of America’s new bad boys.

“If we're gonna go down, might as well go down swinging”

They begin to learn that with their faces splashed all over the newspapers and their names mentioned on every news broadcast they are going to have to use every trick in the book to stay ahead of the police. Meanwhile, the conspiracy plot develops as "The Company" continues their plan to locate and eliminate Lincoln Burrows and anyone else who gets in their way.

One thing I immediately noticed was that it moves at a much faster pace than season one. I think the first season was about calculation, planning, timing and clever deception but now the gloves are off. Michael and Lincoln’s enemies are more determined than ever to hunt them down but the tattoo on Michael’s body wasn’t the only resource he had planned to use.

You may also remember that at the end of the last season we discovered the buried location of a five million dollar fortune that had been hidden on the outside by one of the inmates. After getting this information the escapees have now set their sights on reaching the money before the rest, sharing is not an option. But with the government, the FBI, and the president of the United States trying to pin them down they find themselves needing to rely on each other more and more.

Prison Break has always been a unique series, pushing us to breaking point at the end of every episode and then forcing things just a little further in the next. The chase really is more exciting than the break out and it will only take a few episodes of this new series to realise this. If your energetic enough then jump on-board… the hunt has begun.
