Prison Break – Season One
By Mal Simons, Blockbuster.co.uk
When Lincoln Burrows’ (
Dominic Purcell) brother Michael (Wentworth Miller) is convicted of a crime that he did not commit and is due to be executed, Lincoln takes it upon himself to break his brother out of prison. A gripping series in the tradition of Lost and 24, unmissable stuff!
The two men at the centre of the story - Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield are brothers whose lives took dramatically different directions when their mother died of cancer and their father abandoned the family. While Michael became an engineer and got a great job; Lincoln became an alcoholic and manages to get himself convicted of murdering the brother of the Vice President of the United States.
All of Lincoln’s appeals are turned down and he is sent to the Fox River State Prison to await his execution. It is down to his younger brother Michael to break him out of prison. Michael’s firm was in charge of refurbishing the prison several years ago and he has access to detailed blueprints. Tattooing them in an intricate design that covers his entire upper torso, he commits a half-hearted armed robbery and has himself convicted and sent to Fox River prison.
Michael finds that getting into Fox River much easier than getting out and in the course of getting in touch and breaking out his brother, he has to navigate the prison by avoiding and manipulating the other inmates and prison officials. Outside of the prison, Lincoln’s ex-girlfriend Veronica Donovan (
Robin Tunney) begins a crusade to overturn his conviction. Enlisting the help of Nick Savrinn (Frank Grillo), an anti-death penalty lawyer, the two of them discover a government conspiracy that extends all the way up the US Government. Unfortunately for these do-gooders, their investigation has not gone unnoticed by the Secret Service and corrupt agent Paul Kellerman (Paul Adelstein) does everything he can to stop them.
Each episode of Prison Break is guaranteed to get your heart pumping with more twists and turns than even Lost or 24 with some unforeseen plot twists, stunning betrayals and brilliant performances all round. This is why the series is so irresistible – you simply don’t know what is going to happen next. Add this to your list now!
