Leonard Shelby, Guy Pearce, used to be a successful
happily-married insurance investigator, until an attack by an intruder in his
home left him brain-damaged and his wife raped and murdered.
He begins a quest for information of the murder and to learn about himself, but
his short term memory has been destroyed. This means that he can only rely on
notes, tattoos, Polaroids and contacts to help piece together his past, as
anything more that he learns he forgets if he doesn't note down.
Memento starts where the story ends, with sequences running backwards in time,
tracing the events that led Shelby to whatever scene we just saw. Deliciously
complicated, beautifully acted and laced with black humour this is an
exceptional psychological thriller that promises to stay with you for months.
One of the finest films around right now!
