| If you thought hide and seek was child's play, this chilling horror will make you think again!
Dakota Fanning and Robert DeNiro battle it out for top acting honours in this spooky psychological thriller.
The 11 year old star shares a special onscreen chemistry with acting legend DeNiro - as she did with Sean Penn in I Am Sam and with Denzel Washington in Man On Fire - that makes this film truly compelling.
Fanning plays Emily, who is traumatised after her mother is found dead in the bath. Her psychologist father David Callaway (DeNiro), decides to move them to a large house in the country for a fresh start.
But when Emily meets an imaginary friend, "Charlie", her behaviour turns sinister, particuarly towards her father's new lover, an attractive local divorcee (Elizabeth Shue).
When David finds ugly graffiti on his bathroom wall and a cat drowned in the tub, Emily blames it on Charlie. But when a gruesome murder is committed, David sets out to discover the frightening truth about her disturbing new "friend".
In the sombre tradition of The Sixth Sense's M. Night Shyamalan, director Polson (Swimfan) gives us a shocking twist or two, plenty of jolts, red herrings and some sinister woodland scenes. The spookiest ingredient in this fantastic potboiler though is the truly brilliant Fanning.
"Dakota blows my mind; there's just no other way to put it," Polson told Blockbuster Online. "Working with her is like working with an incredibly talented 35 year old."
To play the troubled youngster, the blonde haired Fanning donned a brown wig and lots of dark eye make up. "This role is like nothing I've ever done before," she says.
