| Heartstopper
By Mal Simons, Blockbuster.co.uk
Horror wants a new face in this blood soaked, gory and suspenseful rollercoaster starring Robert Englund, Meredith Henderson and Nathan Stephenson.
A well crafted, suspenseful and terrifying horror; Heartstopper certainly lives up to its name. When a deranged killer, famous for ripping out his victims hearts is sent to the electric chair and survives… he quickly recovers to torment and kill the residents of a small hospital. This evil mass-murderer needs to find a new body to transfer his dark soul into before the night is out and a small group of survivors have to find a way out of the hospital before they are discovered.
“Your God has abandoned you but you should not fear death…Embrace it!”
The story revolves around Sara, a teenager who is being bullied at school and attempted suicide. After failing to jump off a bridge, Sara ends up in a small country hospital that is due to close down. Unfortunately for her, the body of an electrocuted serial killer known as ‘Chambers’ has been shipped to the hospital morgue and, he is not as dead as he should be. After killing the coroner who is taking great pleasure in working on him, Chambers goes on a killing spree, in search of another body in which to host his consciousness.
As Sara’s luck would have it, she has been chosen as the recipient for his dark soul and she has to work with the other patients in order to escape the hospital before she comes face to face with the brutal serial killer. But with the hospital sealed and the night turning into dawn, will our heroine survive?
With terrific horror scenes, great lines and not to mention, a great role for horror extraordinaire Robert Englund; Heartstopper is one of the creepiest horrors that we’ve come across in a long time. A throwback to the ‘serial killer back from the dead’ films of the 80s, this film grabs you by the heart and never lets go.
