| Getting Played
By Cory Peynado, Blockbuster.co.uk
“Men are dogs, men are players, they are the liars, the cheats and the overall scum of the universe” Now these are just some of the delightful words I heard whilst sat inside a laundrette a few months back coming from a group of middle-aged disgruntle women. These words won’t kill me of course but it was certainly enough to put me off asking for twenty pence for the machine.
Is it true? Do all men have that Johnny Bravo nature inside them? Is there really no trust worthy Homo sapiens of the alpha persuasion in existence? Well according to Andrea Collins (Vivica A. Fox) the answer is no. And the same goes for her two friends, Lauren (Carmen Electra) and Emily, played by Stacey Dash. They have taken about as much as anyone can take from men and they are out to get some revenge.
These three sexy and smart ladies decide to turn the tables around full circle and play the players at their own game. They start off by making a bet to see who can hook up with Mark Sellers (Bill Bellamy) and get him into bed the fastest… (My heart bleeds for him)
They know that Bill is a pretty handsome guy and he’s certainly not innocent when it comes to playing the ladies so he qualifies as a perfect mark, but Bill finds out about this plan and decides to use it to his advantage, therefore things for the girls don’t exactly go according to plan.
There are some really funny parts in this movie but I won’t spoil them for you. Writer and Director David Silberg does a fairly good job at delivering a nice story with a bit of edge, a bit of character and a good dose of comeuppance for all involved. Great for people who like their… can I call it a romantic comedy? not sure, maybe a romantic ambush, how’s that.
