| | Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
By Cory Peynado, Blockbuster.co.uk
“The question isn't what are we going to do, the question is what aren't we going to do?"
Director
John Hughes delivers one of his best pieces in this huge hit 80’s movie. Brace yourself for
Matthew Broderick’s Golden Globe nominated performance as the perennial truant… Ferris Bueller.
High-schooler Ferris, his girlfriend Sloane (
Mia Sara), and his best bud Cameron (
Alan Ruck) are off on the spontaneous romp through Chicago after conjuring a string of excuses to get each other a day of freedom from school. Their only loose end is nasty and scheming Principal Ed Rooney (
Jeffrey Jones), who knows about Ferris’s sly ways and will stop at nothing to catch him out once and for all.
Ferris’s sister Jeanie is also along for the ride after meeting the leather-jacketed bad boy (
Charlie Sheen) in a police station. With all the trouble she brings, will she be the downfall of Ferris’s day?… not if he can help it. So, barf up a lung, forge a “sick note” from the parents, and tag along on the funniest adventure to ever sweep through the Windy City.
Widely recognised as one of the best comedy adventures of it’s time and also Broderick’s lift off movie, this is ninety minutes of pure fun and freedom that you will not want to miss out on. Already finding yourself humming the memorable theme tunes? Good, then don’t resist. Getting one up on the prison of the classroom has never been this cool!
Absolutely essential viewing for those of you who want to strip away the drones of authority for a while and join-in the Bueller revolution. Add it to your list now.
