A criminal gang is targeting lorries on the LA docks
- and jacking the loads in ambitious acts of high-speed piracy. So its up to
young buck FBI agent Brian (Walker) to inveigle his way into the operation,
fixed up with a new dodgy past, a job in a car supplies store and a crush on
Mia (Jordana Brewster), sister of prime suspect Dominic Torretto (Diesel), and
bust the criminals in the act But when Brian enters the underworld of illegal
street-racing, he finds it harder to sympathise with his mission and easier to
empathise with the racers.
One of the biggest and unexpected box-office hits of last year, The Fast and
the Furious exploded onto the screens and proved that it doesnt always take an
A-list cast and $100m to make a superb event movie. Instead, a group of
talented unknowns fight it out against some dramatic visuals and a genuinely
imaginative storyline in one of the must-see action flicks of the year, replete
with sweat-soaked stunt sequences, fast cars and a camera that seems to be
everywhere all at once.
Guys will be impressed by the testosterone-steeped action set-pieces, but girls
too will lap up the hugely charismatic Vin Diesel, whose gravel-voiced delivery
and striking physique steal the films thunder at every turn, and show him to be
a true star in the making.
