After her husband dies from a heart attack, Louise Haloran (Luana Anders) realises that she will not inherit any of the money due to her husband if he is not still alive when Lady Haloran dies. Louise decides to forge a letter from John to the rest of his family saying that he is in New York on important business. She then visits her husband’s Irish ancestral home to meet his family and find a way to protect her future inheritance.

But at Castle Haloran she discovers that the family has dark secrets to hide including the suspicious death of John's sister seven years earlier.
