Lucy (Britney Spears), Kit and Mimi are childhood friends who are re-united at
their high school graduation prom.
They've grown apart but still have their youthful dreams and decide to make
good on a childhood pact to go in search of their destinies.
With barely a plan, practically no money, but plenty of dreams, they set off on
a road trip, hitching a lift with Mimi's handsome, mysterious friend Ben in his
cool convertible.
Along the way, there's fun, laughter, love (and a few songs) as the girls
re-discover their friendship.

Interview With Britney Spears

Q
What prompted you to make a movie now?
Was it sort of a natural progression?
A
Well, right at the time, I'd just
done two tours and two albums, and I was just in the mood to do a movie.
Q
Is there pressure from your fans to
make a certain type of movie?
A
No, I just go with my instincts and
go with what I feel. And, I really believe in myself a lot. Probably too much
sometimes and so, when I wanted to do this, something told me to do it.
Q
How did you prepare for the movie?
A
I had a week and a half of acting
lessons before I did the movie, which helped me a lot.
Q
What was the best acting advice you
got during this movie?
A
The best acting advice I got was just
to pretend that the camera's not there. And, just to be yourself and really
feel the character.
Q
What were the considerations for a
first movie, what were you looking for?
A
Really, I was looking for a good
story. A good story that I could really be passionate about and really put my
heart into. That was what I wanted and I think I accomplished that with
"Crossroads."
Q
Is this true that this is your idea
for a script?
A
Yes. At the time I'd been getting a
lot of scripts. And, when I realized I could make up my own movie, that's how I
came up with the idea of "Crossroads." So a writer and I got together and we
elaborated on the whole thing. I just wanted to do something I could really
feel passionate about. Because it's a lot
of hard work to do a movie and I wanted to make sure that I could really put my
heart into it and really feel comfortable with the character. And, I thought it
was cool because I got to be really hands-on with everything, which made it
that much more special.

Q
It's really about the teen world, teen
girls and problems they face, is that something you wanted to do?
A
Definitely, I think it's a teen
movie, but it's definitely a teen movie that's talking about teenagers with
real issues. And, I think it's cool that teenagers can come and watch this and
not feel alone. And knowing that as long as you have your girlfriends right
there beside you, that's what matters to help you through what you go through.
Q
Is that something that's important for
you in life?
A
Oh, definitely. What inspired me to
do "Crossroads" was that I, still to this day, have my three girlfriends,
Courtney, Jansen and Byron.
Q
Tell me about Lucy's dilemma in the
film?
A
I think that Lucy is confused because
she's very, very smart and she is the valedictorian, but she knows that there's
something else out there for her. And, she has a dream and she goes for it.
Q
Do you relate to Lucy?
A
I think I could kind of relate to her
probably two years ago. When I was leaving my home and I was going off to the
big city, New York, to start recording my album. I felt like a big transition
there, you know, definitely.
Q
You cry in front of the camera, that's
a tough moment for any actor, how did you pull that off?
A
Well, really, I wasn't sad that day,
so it was really, really hard for me. But I really just had to envision Lucy
and what she just went through going and seeing her mom and stuff. And, just
really feel sorry for her.
Q
What was your favorite scene on the
film?
A
My favorite moment was probably the
scene where me and all the girls were altogether and we're jumping on the bed.
And we're having a good time. We shot that until like three o'clock in the
morning and we really got delirious. We had a lot of fun doing that.
Q
What was it like working with Dan
Aykroyd and Kim Cattrall, who played your parents in the film?
A
They were awesome. I was so happy
when Dan Aykroyd decided to even be in the movie and Kim Cattrall, from "Sex In
The City," she is just an amazing actress. I was very happy that they decided
to be in the movie, because I think they're both great actors.
Q
What about the romantic scenes that
you had with Anson Mount's character. Was that a nightmare?
A
Oh, they were okay. It was fine.
Anson's a hottie, he's really sweet. But at first it was a little awkward just
because all the cameras are all around and you've got to kiss in front of a
bunch of people. But once we did it, it was fine.
Q
Does it weigh on you to be such a role
model to people of your generation?
A
I try not to look at myself as a role
model. I don't want that responsibility because I make mistakes just like
everybody. And, you know, I'd like to be an inspiration for people, but not a
role model.
