The 'true' story of a CIA agent who masquerades as a quiz show host by day.
George Clooney's playful directorial debut proves the ex-ER heartthrob is as good behind the camera as in front of it.
The story follows the incredible autobiographical claims of famed US quiz show maestro Chuck Barris (Rockwell), who alleges he was trained up as a CIA assassin during his high-profile television career.
Clooney cameos as Barris's CIA handler, Jim Byrd, replete with oiled moustache and hair, every bit the '50s Svengali. Barrymore is superb as Barris's long-suffering girlfriend, Penny, forever struggling to understand what her wayward partner has got himself into.
Great performances all round - particularly from Roberts as a vampish CIA agent - and Clooney directs well throughout.
