Patrick Braden was an illegitimate child of small town priest who could not publicly accept him as a baby. Feeling abandoned and well aware that he is different from the other boys in his small town Patrick survives with a mixture of wit, charm and an inner strength that will not allow anyone to force him to conform to the stifling expectations of his rural community.

As soon as he is old enough Patrick, or Kitty as he likes to now be called, moves to London to search for his mother. Through the backstreets of London city Patrick finds out what a bad life really can be like.
