Following a jail stint, Miles Logan, a
jewel thief, is desperate to retrieve a diamond he hid in the air duct of a
building being constructed in downtown LA. He returns to the location, only to
find it's the 37th precinct of the Los Angeles Police Department! As a result,
Logan will have to pull off his biggest scam ever: impersonating a highly
decorated detective so he can grab the gem and make a run for it!
However, Miles soon discovers that
getting his stolen diamond back may be tougher than robbing it in the first
place. In fact, he'll have to cope with a rookie partner (LUKE WILSON), a
former associate who double-crossed him (PETER GREENE), and agents from the FBI
and the DEA, who suspect 'Detective Malone' may not be all he seems. Logan's
situation is also complicated by a pretty public defender (NICOLE ARI PARKER)
and the reappearance of his bumbling ex-getaway car driver (DAVE CHAPELLE, '200
Cigarettes'), who could blow his cover!
Action comes thick and fast as the
increasingly desperate thief plays the loyal cop with hilarious consequences.
Martin Lawrence is excellent as Miles Logan, firing non-stop gags and stunt
filled set pieces make this movie all-round family entertainment, action
adventure meets non stop laughs in this memorable buddy cop movie.
