Young, successful couple Samantha (Heather Graham) and Craig (James Purefoy) appear to have everything going for them. The only thing missing from their life together is a child. Unable to conceive, but desperate to do so, they turn to a pioneering, high-tech fertility clinic for help and it's not long before Samantha is expecting twins.

But this blessing comes at a price. As the months pass, the mother-to-be finds herself haunted by the menacing presence of a hooded figure. Following her wherever she goes, the stranger claims to be a priest and foretells of terrible things to come. Samantha finds herself increasingly drawn into a living hell in which she must discover if the prophecies are the ravings of a madman or if they bear some truth.
