Blockbuster Feature

Based on the cult novel by Alex Garland and with one of Hollywood's largest stars, Leonardo DiCaprio taking the lead, The Beach was destined to be a blockbuster movie.

American backpacker, Richard, DiCaprio, meets another traveller, Daffy, in a Bangkok hotel who tells of an island paradise with an unlimited supply of marijuana. The following morning

Richard finds a map pinned to his door with an arrow pointing to "The Beach" and discovers his new made friend has committed suicide. Not to be put off Richard decides to find this island and take a French couple with him that he has made friends with in the hotel.

The trio manage to find the island following their map only to find that the island is controlled by a drugs baron who has gun toting mercenaries patrolling his island.

They have to find the "colony" to survive and learn the "rules" of the island. Fortunately they manage to do so after stumbling across one if its' members and they are introduced to Sal, the colony leader. The colony appears happy on the surface as everyone follows Sal's lead, but Richard has other ideas.

Flash  backs to finding Daffy's body, drugs and shark attacks all begin to take their toll on Richard and he begins to confront the colony and its rules.

Beautiful photography, amazing scenery and a great sound track make the whole package really come together to give thrills and spills galore right up to the very end.
