Milo Thatch (Fox) dreams of following
in his late grandfather's footsteps and searching for the lost city of
Atlantis, but can't persuade anyone to take him seriously. Until, out of the
blue, billionaire recluse Preston Whitmore (John Mahoney) offers to fund the
dangerous expedition - and even provides a hardy crew, led by Commander Lyle
Tiberius Rourke (Garner). Soon, however, Milo discovers not all of his new
companions' intentions are as honourable as his own, and Atlantis is threatened
once again by greed and treachery.
Running at breakneck speed right from the opening credits, Disney's latest
animated adventure adopts an almost comic strip style to superb effect, with
snappy modern dialogue, great characterisation and a subtle blend of computer
and traditional animation. Highly recommended.
