(Rhames), a violent gang member sentenced to prison, leaving his young son (Howard) to grow up alone on the streets. While incarcerated, Animal meets an aging revolutionary (Brown) who changes the way the inmate sees himself and his place in the world. When Animal returns home many years later, he discovers his son has assumed his former life of crime and violence. The reformed gangster is determind to end his family’s legacy of violence so that his son's life can truely begin.
