Will Lightman (Hugh Grant) is a hip
Londoner who one day realises that his friends are all involved with the
responsibilities of married life and that leaves him out in the cold.
Passing himself off as a single father, he starts to meet a string of single
mums, confident in his ability to leave them behind when they start to ask for
a commitment.
But Will's hope of a continued bachelorhood is interrupted when he meets 12
year old Marcus, in many ways his complete opposite.

Feckless, footloose and fancy-free, Will leads a life of leisure, watching
countdown and seeking romance with single mothers.

Marcus
Not the most normal of 12 year olds, Marcus divides his time between getting
hassled at school, listening to Joni Mitchell and worrying about his suicidal
mum, Fiona.

Fiona
When not cooking rock-like organic loaves or singing with her eyes shut, she
spends a lot of time upset.
|

Rachel
Smart, beautiful and sophisticated, she is Will's ideal woman, despite having a
scarily demented 12 year old son.
|

Suzie
Independent, attractive single mother. Just Will's type, in fact, until she
finds out he lied about having a son.
