Title Information

3 Classics Of The Silver Screen - Vol. 7
Three features. In 'The Star Packer' a man who leads a crowd of trouble makers and calls himself 'The Shadow' gets elected as sheriff. Also features 'Our Town' and 'Rocket Ship XM'.

Our Town - Touching film version of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play that explores the love, humour and pain in the lives of two families in the woodsy New Hampshire town, Grovers Corners. William Holden and Martha Scott succumb to adolescent affections before maturing, marrying, and bearing a child of their own. A film emphasising the preciousness of time in people’s short lives. A marvellous cast includes William Holden, Frank Craven, Martha Scott and Thomas Mitchell.

The Star Packer - US Marshall John Travers (Wayne) and his Indian companion Yak are after the mysterious Shadow and his gang who are harassing the citizens of a small western town. When the town’s Sheriff is killed, Travers takes his place and organises a group of armed men to rid the town of the nasty archfiend and his smelly thugs.

Rocket Ship XM - Astronaut Colonel Floyd Graham, (Lloyd Bridges), and his crew blast off to explore the moon. But a malfunction changes their course to Mars where they find evidence of a once powerful civilization and barbarian Martians. As the adventurers try to return to Earth they find their backs against the wall at every turn. One of the earliest films of the space craze of the 1950’s and one that stands out from those that followed.
