| Three features. 'Indiscretion Of An American Wife', 'A Farewell To Arms' and 'The Groom Wore Spurs'.
A Farewell to Arms - Frank Borzage’s drama is the original, highly acclaimed film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s 1929 novel about the poignant, ill-fated wartime romance between an American paramedic and an English nurse in WWI. This skillfully crafted film features two of the premiere stars of 1930s Hollywood ‘ Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes ‘ in the leads.
The Groom Wore Spurs - In this light comedy, Rogers plays an attorney who marries, then divorces, a rugged cowboy. When he gets into trouble with the law, she feels compelled to defend him. Naturally, he turns out to be not-so-tough after all.
Misdiscretion of An American Wife - The film takes place over a few hours in Rome’s Terminal Station, where Mary (Jennifer Jones) is preparing to leave her Italian
lover Giovanni (Montgomery Clift), who begs her to stay with him. While considering her options, Mary and Giovanni sneak off to an empty railroad car for one last passionate fling, but are soon discovered by a railway worker and arrested for indecent conduct. Mary must escape the charges to catch her train ‘ unless she’d prefer to stay in Rome and never return to her family.
