Blockbuster.co.uk - Father's Day Survey

Father's Day

To celebrate that most special of made-up paternal holidays, namely Father's Day, we here at Blockbuster.co.uk asked you to vote for your favourite screen dad. Would it be 24's Jack Bauer, the ultimate overprotective pop, or possibly Darth Vader, who merrily sliced his son's hand off to teach him a lesson? Well, no. Ultimately it was Homer Simpson who walked away with most of your votes.
Casually violent, selfish, neglectful, forgetful, mocking and dumb, Homer should be dead, in prison or at the very least in the gutter somewhere, but somehow his faults combine to ensure that he usually ends up doing the right thing by his kids, even if it's by accident most of the time! Plus as role models go, it's hardly a challenge living up to his example.
You voted in your thousands and the results are just below. Thanks very much for taking part!
Results:
1. Homer Simpson - 28%
2. Jim's Dad - 14%
3. Jack Bauer - 12.5%
4. Chris Gardner - 10.25%
5. Bryan Mills - 10%
6. Darth Vader - 8%
7. Professor Henry Jones - 6%
8. Noah Bennet - 4.75%
9. Daniel Hillard - 4.25%
10. Harry Tasker - 2.25%

Jack Bauer

Jack Bauer
Played By: Kiefer Sutherland
Seen In: 24
Anyone who doubts that fatherhood is a 24-hour job should take a quick peek at Jack's schedule. To the untrained eye it might seem like his work rota is filled with appointments to "torture bad guys" and "shout loudly to get my point across", but he always makes time for his daughter - usually saving her from death by terrorists.

Jim's Dad

Jim's Dad
Played By: Eugene Levy
Every parent knows at some point in their child's life they will have to face the embarrassing topic of sex. Jim's dad thinks he's handled matters when he takes the first step and buys his son some condoms. This backfires as later he walks in on his son trying things out American Pie style. "We'll just tell your mother we ate it all..."

Homer Simpson

Homer Simpson
Played By: Dan Castellaneta
Seen In: The Simpsons
At first glance he's the ultimate dead-beat dad: not interested in his children's lives, putting himself first before his family; using strangulation as a method of control! But when it comes to the crunch, Homer Simpson is always there for his yellow spiky-haired ankle biters.

Noah Bennet

Noah Bennet
Played By: Jack Coleman
Seen In: Heroes
You'd think daddy wouldn't be so worried once he realises that his little girl is indestructible, but Noah still can't help being over-protective when it comes to Claire. However, he's not doing a bad job as a step father considering he doesn't have the powers of pyrokinesis or flight that her biological parents possess.

Harry Tasker

Harry Tasker
Seen In: True Lies
Every child wants to believe that their dad is cooler than the boring guy who goes off to work everyday and wallows in the drudgery of a mundane job. And underneath the corporate excuses for Harry Tasker's frequent flyer mileage is a double life that sees him handling covert ops for a secret government agency. Those fancy Bond-style gadgets are also perfect for keeping an eye on his family.
