As the biggest 'rentailer' in the UK, Blockbuster's customer offer is continually changing and evolving, therefore so is our learning and development support to ensure that team members are constantly up-skilled and supported during these changes, whether you work in our stores, or in our supporting offices.
Working very closely with the Operations team, the Learning and Development department prioritise making sure that all our stars (yes, that could be you!) are familiar with the products we sell and know how to tell our customers all about them....so much so that we encourage them to get hands on and have a go - can you picture yourself having a laugh while learning about a DS Lite console, or a PS3 by playing them? - we arm them with a Product Reference Guide with all the facts to go out and talk to customers, answering any questions and telling them about all of our great offers.
To help new team members build the confidence to do this, they attend a shop floor sales training programme when they join the business, to give them time to practice approaching and talking to customers as well as providing the opportunity to gain feedback on their skills.
If you decide that management is for you, when you join, as well as getting to know our products, you will embark on a 6-month management development programme with a dedicated in-store trainer, which includes training in both operational and behavioural skills, so you'll be all set to continue your career with us. We value internal succession, so if you value getting promoted and working your way up within the company, the Learning and Development team offer an extensive range of development and support programmes to guide you if you choose to further your career with Blockbuster.
The Learning and Development team also offers the same great service should you decide that working in the Support Centre is for you, with many development workshops being offered, as well as coaching and on-the-job training.
All in all, as a team member at Blockbuster, you will be supported by a group of committed and dedicated Learning and Development team, whose primary aim is to support the development of your career with the company.
