DVD Highlights
Charlie Wilson's War Charlie Wilson's War Charlie Wilson's War - Movie of the Week
Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts shine in this film based on the extraordinary true story of how one playboy congressman, a renegade CIA agent and a beautiful Houston socialite joined forces to effectively destroy the Soviet advance in Afghanistan and helped to bring about the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. Charlie Wilson's War is our Movie of the Week.
Charlie Wilson (Hanks) was more known for his escapades with strippers, alcohol and cocaine rather than his work in the House of Representatives until one of his supporters, Joanne Herring (Roberts) tells him about the plight of the people of Afghanistan, suffering in the brutal Soviet occupation. Wilson teams up with CIA Agent Gust Avrakotos (Philip Seymour Hoffman) to help the Afghan people fight the Soviets, but his efforts have some unintended consequences that change the world forever.
Shrooms Shrooms
Best described as a 'druggy horror movie'. A group of American friends head to Ireland in order to visit old pals and get properly trashed. The bunch go deep into the Irish woods to look for some of nature's finest magic mushrooms. Unfortunately one of them has a bad mushroom that enables them to see the future - a future where each of them are being stalked and killed one by one. A future which begins to come true.
While it's not groundbreaking stuff, Shrooms is pretty entertaining, enjoyable by both casual and serious horror fans alike. You don't have to be on drugs to enjoy this movie.

Ashes to Ashes Ashes to Ashes
It's time to fire up the Quattro, it's 1981 and DCI Gene Hunt and the gang are back in this terrific sequel series to hit BBC show Life on Mars. You don't have to have watched Life on Mars in order to enjoy the show.
Gene Hunt and his faithful sidekicks, Ray Carling (Dean Andrews) and Chris Skelton (Marshall Lancaster) have joined the London Met to take on the 'southern nancy' criminal scum. However, he receives the shock of his life when he's thrown together with sexy, intelligent DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes). Gene is still a firm believer in old-fashioned values, where a woman's place is in the home, and 'real men' shouldn't moisturise, be sensitive, remember birthdays or put the bins out without being asked!
Kiltro Kiltro
The best martial arts action film since Ong Bak, Kiltro is an ultra-violent street movie with real martial artists performing real martial arts action. Zamir (Zaror) is a member of a violent street gang, the Kiltros, whose life is forever changed when a powerful martial artist looking for vengeance, kills his mother and kidnaps the woman he loves. Zamir must fight through wave after wave of opponents in order to claim vengeance and save his girlfriend.
If you enjoyed Ong Bak or the Hong Kong classics then you are in for a treat - Marko Zaror is the new Tony Jaa. Please note: This movie is subtitled.
The Best of the rest:
Assembly Here are some other titles that might take your fancy:
An epic war film set during the Chinese Civil War, Assembly comes to DVD and Blu-ray; elsewhere on site, it gets a bit chilly for two students when they breakdown on a deserted road in Wind Chill, while eighties legend Dolph Lundgren directs and stars in new action flick The Defender.
