DVD Highlights
Alien Vs Predator 2: Requiem - Movie of the Week
The first Alien Vs Predator movie was always a bit of a guilty pleasure. An enjoyable enough movie that had none of the depth or suspense of either the Predator or Alien franchises, it was a film that cared about one thing - to get as many action scenes on screen as possible. AVP 2 offers more of the same, however is a superior movie in almost every way with a more intense story, solid acting and better special effects.
This time around a Predator ship has crash-landed and introduced a new menace onto a small American town - a Predi-Alien more dangerous and destructive than anything that has gone before. As the Alien slaughters the townspeople one by one, the survivors must team up with a lone Predator hunter to stop the threat before it spreads throughout the world. Fans of the franchise, and even newcomers with a thing for blood should enjoy this.

P.S. I Love You
A bit of a weepy love story this one. Hilary Swank stars as Holly Kennedy, a heartbroken widow who discovers that her dead husband Gerry has posted a series of notes to her before he died; intended to help her move on after his death. While her family believes that she is trying to cling on to the past and the perfect life she has lost, each note she receives from Gerry, sends Holly on a whole new direction. Over time Holly rediscovers herself and how to love other people. Erm. Yes.
American Dad - Season 3
If you've not seen an episode of American Dad then you don't know what you are missing. An over the top take on the traditional American family, American Dad follows the antics of the Smiths as they entangle themselves in ever more ridiculous situations.
Stand out episodes this year include 'Bush Comes to Dinner' in which Stan wins a contest to have his hero, President Bush over for dinner, where his daughter Hayley tries to grill him over the Iraq war, and his son Steve and resident alien Roger try to convince him that they have found Osama Bin Laden. Bush ends up getting drunk and Stan tries to save him from public humiliation. In the episode 'The 42 Year Old Virgin'; Stan is playing poker with the guys at the CIA, and is uncovered as a virgin, but not in the traditional way, but that he's never killed anyone! Roger and the guys set out to help him bust his killing cherry!
Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story
If you like your comedy random, wacky and messed up, you could do worse than to check out this film from producer Judd Apatow, the genius behind Superbad and Knocked Up. A spoof of films such as Walk the Line, Talladega Nights star John C Reilly stars as musician Dewey Cox, a troubled man whose songs 'would change a nation'.
On his rock 'n roll spiral, Cox sleeps with 411 women, marries three times, has 22 kids and 14 step kids, stars in his own 70s TV show, collects friends ranging from Elvis to the Beatles to a chimp and gets addicted to, and then kicks, every drug known to man. Despite it all, Cox becomes a national icon and even finds the love of a good woman. It's silly stuff, and certainly not to everyone's taste, however you may enjoy it.

The Bionic Woman - Season 1
Former Eastender Michelle Ryan takes the lead in this big budget reimagining of seventies series, The Bionic Woman. If you're expecting another dynamic reimagining like Battlestar Galactica, then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed, however this is still watchable and as enjoyable as the original series.
Plot wise. Jamie Sommers (Ryan) is a young bartender with a good boyfriend who also takes care of her 15 year old sister. When a devastating accident occurs, Jamie has several of her body parts replaced with bionic implants that give her superior abilities and strengths. Forced to work as a government agent, Jamie has to go on secret missions, all the while, trying to balance this with her personal life. It's never easy being a Bionic Woman!
The Best of the rest:
Here are some other titles that might take your fancy:
Sam and Dean Winchester are back for Season 3 of Supernatural - Season 3, best described as a male version of Buffy crossed with The X-Files. I got into the show quite late, but it's gripping stuff. Also this week, we have season 3 of the Charlie Sheen show Two and a Half Men, while Ron Eldard and Christopher Plummer star in thriller Already Dead while Jason Bateman, Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman star in family film Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium, this tells the story of a magic filled toy store. Last but not least, lets not forget game to movie adaptation Bloodrayne - it certainly doesn't look like it will win any awards however game adaptations tend to be.'watchable' at least.

Extras! Highlights
We've got some terrific Extras! for you to enjoy this week.
Life of Reilly: John C Reilly Interview
A respected character actor who has turned into a big time movie comic, although the funny was always within him, peeping out in movies like Boogie Nights; it took until Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby for Reilly to reveal his full comedy talent. Now playing the lead role in wacky comedy Walk Hard, he took some time out to talk about his latest comedy.
