DVD Highlights
We've had a good run of releases recently and that run is set to continue with another jam-packed release week that truly offers something for everyone.
Lions for Lambs - EXCLUSIVE
Starring Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, this is a fast-paced political drama from director and political film activist Robert Redford. Lions for Lambs examines various American perspectives on the War on Terror, how it's doing, where it's going and the lives and careers it's shaped since it began. If you're looking for something quite thoughtful and considered then this could be the film for you.
Rendition - EXCLUSIVE
Continuing the political theme this week we have Rendition, a timely thriller about a woman whose husband is kidnapped and taken to a foreign prison because he is suspected of being a terrorist. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, Alan Arkin and Meryl Streep, if you go in for political thrillers like All the President's Men or Lions for Lambs then you should definitely add this to your list.
30 Days of Night - EXCLUSIVE
The best true Vampire movie since Near Dark, 30 Days of Night tells the story of a small and isolated Alaskan town that is invaded by vampires over the course of 30 days of darkness. As the vampires feed on the town's unfortunate inhabitants, Sheriff Eben Oleson (Josh Hartnett) must try to protect the survivors which include his estranged wife. If you're looking for blood, guns and plenty of action then this is highly recommended to rent.
10 Items or Less
Morgan Freeman stars in this quirky independent film about an aging Hollywood icon who is forced to consider a low budget movie. After being abandoned by his driver in the wrong end of town with no cash or mobile phone, he is stranded on the wrong side of the tracks until meeting Scarlett - a check out girl with attitude. A thoughtful and touching movie about friendship and age, this is one of those life-affirming films that stick with you after the credits roll.
The Best of the rest:
As always, there are plenty of other titles out this week that may take your fancy:
Lovers Sharon Stone and Rupert Everett find themselves on different sides in the Cold War thriller A Different Loyalty; while a Federal Agent finds himself investigating unusual crimes in A Town Called Eureka - Season 1 is best described as The X-Files crossed with Northern Exposure.

Oops - We Made a Mistake
Last week we recommended 'King of California' as one of our key picks of the week. While we stand by that decision - it's a great film starrijng Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood, after going to 'print' we discovered that the release date has changed and this has been put back until later in the year. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment that this may have caused. Still, if you've added this to your list, you can be assured that we'll send it to you when it has become available.
Until next week!
