Shaun is stuck in a rut – an aspiring DJ, he spends his days in a dead-end job
working in an electrical store and his nights in the local pub with his slobbish
best mate Ed (Nick Frost). Even his attractive girlfriend Liz (The Office's Lucy Davis)
is fed up with him!
But then his London pub comes under attack from zombie invaders and Shaun's life is
about to change forever. He becomes an unlikely hero as he fights to save his loved ones,
and not-so-loved ones, from bloodthirsty zombies.
The idea for this simply brilliant and original movie came from Simon Pegg and Edgar
Wright, who worked on an early episode of Spaced where Pegg's character is trapped in a
game of Resident Evil 2 and fights off hoards of zombies.
Simon explains: “What we wanted to do was make a zombie comedy that was funny in terms
of the characters and the dialogue but stayed true to the horror aspect.”
A homage to the classic zombie movies by George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) and a
fantastic British comedy in its own right; Shaun of the Dead is one of the most
entertaining films for years and comes highly recommended to rent.

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are huge fans of the DVD format and the DVD of Shaun of
the Dead is packed with some fantastic extra features! There are multiple commentaries
(all hilarious!), 17 deleted scenes, an eleven minute outtake reel(!), Spoof TV material
from the film – which includes a fantastic spoof interview with Coldplay's Chris Martin)
and two extracts from Trisha, "You're Nine Lives Are Up" and "I Married A Monster".
The Plot Holes section contains some of the most original bonus features on the disc. Three
comic strip sequences fill in several gaps from the film and are narrated by the original
actors. To explain this further would giveaway too much of the film – but this is essential
viewing for fans of the Rom-Com-Zom.
Other features on the disc include several featurettes, Video Diaries, a Special Effects
comparison which shows how two of the key gore scenes were created as well as original
audition footage, trailers and TV spots. True fans of the film can enable the Zomb-O-Meter
track which displays interesting and amusing anecdotes and zombie trivia as subtitles while
