Title Information

Meet The Parents
Male nurse Greg Focker is poised to propose to his girlfriend Pam during a weekend stay at her parents' home. But here's the catch... he needs to ask her father first. Alas, the fur flies as Jack Byrnes, Pam's cat-crazy, ex-CIA father, takes an immediate dislike to her less-than-truthful-beau. Greg's quest for approval gets seriously sidetracked as Murphy's law takes over and a hilarious string of mishaps turns him into a master of disaster and total pariah in the eyes of the entire family... all except for his shell-shocked girlfriend, who can't believe she still loves her one-man wrecking crew.

Male nurse Greg Focker, (Ben Stiller) is finally ready to propose to his teacher girlfriend Pam Byrne, (Teri Polo). Trouble is, Pam's been hinting that before they go any further with the marital plans, Greg should get permission from her dad Jack, (Robert De Niro).

So Greg and Pam head off into the suburbs to meet with sweet and scatty mum Dina, (Blythe Danner) - and highly suspicious dad Jack.

It should be an easy time for Greg, all he has to do is make a good impression on his prospective in-laws and he's onto a winner. But then an enormous string of domestic disasters begin piling up at the Byrnes house - and all of them look suspiciously like they're Greg's fault.

De Niro and Stiller are a potent combination in this slick-gutbuster of a comedy. Jack provides movie icon De Niro with one of his funniest roles yet, combining previous icons like Jimmy Conway (Goodfellas), Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver) and Al Capone (The Untouchables) into one terrifying yet hilarious father in law from hell.

You'll be squirming in your seat as Focker digs himself into ever larger holes, and laughing out loud as the repercussions from his little white lies evolve into full-blown disasters.

Stiller is perfect n his role as the beleaguered son in law, playing on his characteristic barely on the edge nervousness which he put to such brilliant effect in favourites like There's Something About Mary and Mystery Men. His run-ins with De Niro really are the stuff classic movie scenes are made of.

Comedy hasn't been this painfully funny in years. Superb.
