Sex and the City: The Movie will involve Carrie in a more serious and moving tale than the TV show's more frivolous escapades, according to actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
Co-starring ever-presents of the TV series Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, the long-awaited big screen debut of the hit show entails marriage hopes and dashed dreams, prompting Parker to issue a warning to audiences.
The actress said: "What can I tell you in my own stealth way about the story? What we tried to do is, it's a grown-up movie, and I think those people that have seen it have been very surprised.
"There's a seriousness about something that happens in this movie and it's really about real life and your own complicity and disappointments.
She added that the film was also about how to balance the necessity of friends at certain points with the need for a grown-up to take control of their own life.
Sex and the City: The Movie will be released at UK cinemas in May of this year.
