Bernie Lootz is a loser who spends his life spreading bad luck on the floor of an ageing casino in Las Vegas as 'The Cooler' where his very presence seems to cool down a gambler's winning streak. One day, however, he meets Natalie, a beautiful cocktail waitress with whom he becomes involved, but his 'cooling' powers start going into reverse and the casino boss is not happy.
